Extrafood, Share the Bounty, & Yoga in the Valley
Welcome to Insight into Health, my radio show on listener-supported KSVY 91.3, where I explore ways to make healthy living realistic, enjoyable, and sustainable. I am your host, Allison McKeany, and these are the show notes for the live radio show that aired on July 26, 2026.
Listen to the first two segments of the episode:
ExtraFood
For the first two segments, I was joined by Kathy Carver of extrafood.org to talk about the great work this organization is doing to end food waste, decrease hunger, and fight the climate crisis.
Starting in 2024, ExtraFood expanded to Sonoma Valley to “rescue” food from local stores, schools, and Sonoma Valley Hospital to distribute it to those experiencing food insecurity. In the last year, over 286,000 pounds of food were rescued and distributed in our valley alone.
Part of the food recovery efforts comes from ExtraFood’s “Share the Bounty” Program where excess produce from farms, orchards, and backyards is harvested by volunteers and shared with neighbors in need.
If you are interested in volunteering or donating excess produce from your yard or farm, please reach out!
Listen to the third segment of the episode:
Yoga in the Valley
I was joined by Krissy Marchus, my first yoga teacher! Krissy shared a little about her background, her love for teaching anyone “2 to 82,” and how yoga means so much more than poses on a mat.
If you are interested in learning more about Krissy, check out her classes at Sonoma Yoga, Santa Rosa Junior College, and on YouTube.
Thanks for being here,
Allison
